HAMBLETON - Tucker County's Savannah Ambrose blocked the final shot of the game to secure a 54-52 overtime victory over Southern Garrett, Md., Thursday night in non-conference action.

"Our defense was outstanding," Mountain Lions coach Jim Ambrose said. "The girls really played great tonight.

"They came out and executed. It was a great team victory."

Southern nailed a pair of 3-pointers late in the fourth quarter to tie the contest at 42 at the end of regulation.

"When Savannah blocked that shot as time expired, the place went crazy," Ambrose said. "The crowd was fired up. They really kept us in it tonight. The last time we played them, they beat us by 30 points. I knew we were a better team than what we showed them. This time we executed."

Senior Stephanie Betler exploded for 31 points to lead the Mountain Lions in scoring. Freshman Elizabeth Nichols added 10 points.

Lauren Francillion and Kamrin Weimer scored 15 points each to pace the Rams.

Tucker County (15-4) will host East Hardy at 7:30 p.m. this evening for a Potomac Valley Conference contest.
