Norma June Griffith Bolyard, 79, a resident of Whitmer, departed this life Friday afternoon, Feb. 21, 2014, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, with her family at her side. She had been in declining health.
She was born Wednesday, June 6, 1934, at Rockwood, Tenn., a daughter of the late Hershal and Anna Mary Wicks Griffith Vogel.
On May 8, 1951, at Rossville, Ga., she was married to Darrell Bolyard, who preceded her in death April 13, 2006.
Surviving are one son, Darl Jerry Bolyard and wife, Sharon Faye, of Whitmer; one daughter, Debra Faye Jarvis and husband, Dave, of Millersville, Md.; three sisters, Wanda Crabtree and husband, Web, of Rockwood, Tenn.; Lee Yukish and husband, Johnny, of Nags Head, N.C., and Carol Rodwick and husband, Buddy, of Lincoln, Calif.; seven grandchildren, Dwan, Brittany, Justine and Jessica Bolyard, and Rebecca, Kelly and Kimberly Jarvis; and six great-grandchildren, Gavin; Wyatt, Halle, Reata, Sienna and Slate.
Preceding her in death are two brothers, Ray and Tommy Griffith; and one sister Jackie Vitek.
She attended the schools of Rockwood, Tenn., and had worked as an electronic technician for the Westinghouse Electric Company. In the late 1960s, she and her husband moved the family back to Whitmer and started the Gandy B Farm.
She was a member of the Landmark Baptist Church of which she was a member of the quilting ministry. She was a former member of the Dry Fork Community choir.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Final Rites will be conducted from the funeral home, Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Ken Shiflet will officiate and interment will follow at the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Whitmer.
