TENNERTON - Brooklyn Perkey exploded for 27 points Saturday to lead Lewis County to a 74-63 victory over Big 10 Conference rival Buckhannon- Upshur.

"It was a tough, hard fought game," Bucs coach Tristen Gray said. "Both teams came to play. We had some costly mistakes that directly led to points for Lewis. If you turn it over and the opposition scores off of said turnovers, it makes the game hard to win.

"That's what happened to us tonight. Lewis forced the turnovers and capitalized."

Makayla Reynolds paced B-U in scoring with 29 points. Courtney Reed added nine points.

For the Minutemaids, Karli Hamrick contributed nine points to the effort.

The teams will meet again at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tennerton in opening round play of the Class AAA, Region II, Section 2 tourney.
