BUCKHANNNON - The wait is almost over.
Starting Saturday, Upshur County residents can live more - or at least eat more - when Taco Bell officially opens at its new location on West Main Street in Buckhannon, restaurant officials and the Upshur County Development Authority announced Wednesday.
Lenny Kaschenbach, district manager for Aarsant Management, which is based in Huntsville, Md., said Taco Bell in Buckhannon will be open from 10 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.
The Mexican-style fast food restaurant has already hired 40 employees - including store general manager Kristina Harlana - but is still in search of more.
"We're still looking for a couple more at this point," Kaschenbach said, noting that additional interviews will be conducted Friday from 3-6 p.m.
Kaschenbach said he's excited for Taco Bell's much-anticipated opening.
"We like to be in areas with a lot of development and growth, and it seems like this area really has that," he said. "We're very excited about opening here."
Kaschenbach said local residents seem to be just as eager to chow down on chalupas, taste tacos and bite into burritos.
"Lots of cars have been driving through almost nonstop, asking 'are you open yet? When are you open?'" he said.
Aarsand Management, which also operates Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania, owns 60 franchises throughout the four states.
