On Feb. 9, BB&TV Presbyterian Parish churches celebrated "Red Dress Sunday."
All members of the parish churches wore red to emphasize the importance of living a heart-healthy lifestyle. The liturgy and sermon consisted of scripture which reminds us that we are the Temple of God and God's creation - therefore we have an obligation to live a healthy lifestyle so that we can live a life of worship and serving God. Without our health, we would not be able to fulfill the purpose God has for us or for the church.
Each member of the congregation received a bulletin insert which reminded them of the 10 Commandments of Heart Health, and a "Heart Health Moment" was conducted during the worship service which outlined ways in which we can each live a heart healthy lifestyle and can watch for the warning signs of heart disease.
Red Dress Sunday was delivered in conjunction with the West Virginia University Extension Service's Love Your Heart Movement to raise awareness of heart health.
BB&TV Presbyterian Parish consists of Belington Presbyterian Church, Beverly Presbyterian Church and Tygarts Valley Presbyterian Church in Huttonsville. The pastor is the Rev. Joanne Glaser.
