Alma S. Miller, 89, of Concord, N.C., died Sunday, March 2, 2014, in Universal Health Care in Concord, N.C.
She was born June 12, 1924, in McKeesport, Pa., a daughter of the late Dr. George Morgan and Mary Elizabeth Halvaty Stewart.
On March 19, 1966, she married Robert Ray Miller, who survives.
In addition to her husband she is survived by one sister, Joan S. Thayer and husband, Lester, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; one niece, Dr. Pamela Smith and husband, Tom, of Raleigh, N.C.; one nephew, Daniel Thayer and wife, Barbara, of Pittsburgh, Pa; one great-niece, Alyssa Thayer of Pittsburgh. Pa.; and three great-nephews, Garrett Smith of Baltimore, Md., Jason Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Danny Thayer of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Mrs. Miller was a member of Alderdice High School Alumni Association. She retired from the Marine Corps. Exchange System in Camp Lejeune, N.C. after 20 years of service. Alma will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She loved her poodles, Sammie, Cody and Shallie.
Friends will be received Thursday, March 6, from 5-8 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. J. Edward McDaniels officiating. Burial will follow in Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
