ELKINS - A Fairmont man is being held on a $200,000 bond after being arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl, police said.
Eric Michael Corder, 30, was arrested Monday on one count of first degree sexual assault, a felony. The charge stems from an alleged incident in August 2013 near Bearhunter Estates just outside of Elkins, court documents state.
According to the criminal complaint, Corder and the girl met through another juvenile friend and communicated through text messaging. The alleged victim said she told Corder she was a juvenile in August 2013, according to police.
In her forensic interview regarding the assault, the alleged victim said she had texted Corder and made arrangements to meet him around midnight near her residence, according to the criminal complaint. "She was under the impression she was picking up a pizza" from Corder, the complaint reads. She said she met Corder and got into his vehicle where he sexually assaulted her, including forcing sexual intercourse, police said.
According to the complaint, the alleged victim said that when she told Corder to stop during the course of the assault, he did so.
Corder was arraigned in Marion County Magistrate Court Monday and is being held in North Central Regional Jail on a $200,000 cash, personal recognizance, property or surety bond.
