Delbert Louie Griffith, 68, a resident of Elkins and a patient in Nella's Inc., went home to be with his Lord at 10:55 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2014, in Nella's Inc., following an extended illness.
He was born Oct. 1, 1945, in Barbour County, the youngest child of the late Ernest F. and Eva P. Brady Griffith.
On Jan. 9, 1967, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Griffith, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughter, Tina Revis and husband, James, of Baltimore, Md.; and two sons, Anthony Griffith and fiancee, Lindsey Newton, of Elkins and Dwayne Griffith and wife, Jessica, of Little River, S.C. Ten grandchildren, La'Kisha, Jeremy, Dwayne Jr., Delbert Louie II, Daniel, Samantha, Alyssa, Dustin, Morgan and Justin; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Malachi; four brothers, Henry, Harrison, John and Kenneth; a sister, Lucy; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
Also preceding him in death were brothers, Ernest Frank Jr., James and Howard; and sisters, Susie, Nancy and Virginia.
Delbert was a retired correctional officer in Baltimore, Md. He attended the Cathedral of Deliverance where he taught Sunday school and maintained the sound booth until his illness.
Friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. A.H. Belt officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
