A three-vehicle accident sent one person to Davis Medical Center Wednesday morning. A 1997 Ford Colt Conventional LTL9000, a dump truck, owned by Harry J. Benson & Sons in Philippi, was heading west on Route 92 near Crystal Springs at about 10:40 a.m. when the driver braked and slid left of center, striking two eastbound passenger vehicles, a 2002 Volvo Cross Country and a 2011 Chevy Impala LT, police said. The driver of the truck was cited for failure to maintain control of the vehicle. The individual taken to DMC is expected to survive, said Senior Trooper J.J. Cornelius of the Elkins Detachment of the State Police. The names of the drivers involved were not released as of presstime. Also on scene were the Elkins Fire Department, Randolph County EMS and state Department of Transportation officers.
