ELKINS- Chelsie Stover's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Davis & Elkins to a 1-0 win over Salem International in the first game of a G-MAC doubleheader Saturday at Joni Smith Field.
The Tigers rebounded to take the nightcap, 8-3.
The opener was a pitchers' duel, decided in the final inning when Katelyn Norton led off with a single and was replaced by pinch-runner Alana Jones, who was able to move from first to third on a sacrifice bunt by Samantha Smith. Jones then trotted home with the winning run on Stover's sacrifice fly.

Davis & Elkins’ Amber LaBille makes contact during the first game of a doubleheader against Salem International Saturday at Joni Smith Field. LaBille was the winning pitcher in the game, tossing a complete-game shutout in the Senators’ 1-0 win.
Amber LaBille (1-8) tossed the complete-game shutout to earn the win, allowing only three hits with three strikeouts and three walks.
Lise Couturier (2-6) was saddled with the loss, allowing one run on five hits. She struck out five and walked one.
The SIU offense responded in the second game with a solo home run in the first by Couturier and a two-run double by Bre'Ana Felix in the second to take a 3-0 lead.
Ashley Dove answered for the Senators (4-15, 2-2 G-MAC) with a bases-clearing double to knot the game at 3-3 after two innings. A pair of RBI groundouts in the fourth gave Salem a 5-3 lead.
The Tigers added a solo blast by Katie Chyrssofos in the fifth and tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the seventh inning.
Jones (3-5) gave up six runs, three earned, on seven hits with one strikeout in five innings of work. LaBille hurled two innings in relief, yielding two runs on three hits while striking out three and walking a pair.
Isabel Villalobos (3-5) was the winning pitcher, allowing three runs on six hits. She had two strikeouts and walked one.
D&E will visit Southern Virginia today.
