Jane Ann Griffith Knotts, 81, a resident of the Smokey Hollow Road community, Parsons, departed this life Monday afternoon, March 24, 2014, in Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown, with her family by her side.
She was born Monday, Feb. 20, 1933, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Donald David and Mary.
On Dec. 28, 1950, at Oakland, Md., she was married to Kenneth Morris Knotts, who survives. They had celebrated 63 years of marriage.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mary Lea Knotts Moats and husband, Donald, of Moatsville; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Carr Knotts of Dunbar; one sister, Barbara Sue Griffith Sacks and husband, Terry, of Baltimore, Md.; one granddaughter, Angela Renee "Angie" Leroy and husband, Drew; one great-grandson, Conner Andrew Leroy, all of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death was one son, the Rev. Kenneth Morris Knotts Jr.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the class of 1951. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sycamore Grove Church and taught Sunday school at Riverview Chapel Church. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, flowers, cooking and baking. Jane was a wonderful lady and friend, and she dearly loved her grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons today from 5 to 8 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor Thursday, March 27, at noon. The Rev. Pat Cassidy will officiate, and interment will follow in Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
