ELKINS - Garrett Riggleman drove in two runs Thursday to push Elkins past Big 10 Conference rival East Fairmont, 5-2.
"It was a good solid team effort," EHS coach Adam Roth said. "We still have a few mistakes plaguing us, but we worked through them tonight. It was nice to see our bats wake up, especially at the bottom of the order. It was a good effort from everyone."
The Tigers held a two-run advantage going into the fourth inning. However, Truman Weese hit a two-run homer to tie the game.
Not to be outdone, Elkins took the lead back in the bottom half of the inning. Garrett Riggleman singled and stole second base. Issac Riggleman then got a hit to move Garrett Riggleman to third.
Garrett Riggleman then scored on a wild pitch to make the score 3-2.
The Tigers tacked on two more runs in the fifth inning to secure the victory.
Issac Riggleman earned the win for Elkins. He pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on eight hits.
Sophomore Jacob Bolander took the loss for the Bees (4-1). He pitched 4 1/3 innings and gave up five runs on seven hits.
Colby Gainer notched the save, going 1 1/3 innings with one strikeout.
He also was 2 for 4 at the plate, with an RBI and run scored.
Garrett Riggleman paced the Tiger offense, going 2 for 3 with two RBIs, a stolen base and a run scored.
The Tigers are slated to host sectional rival Hampshire at 4 p.m. today.
