Alice Virginia Mayle, 80, of Moatsville, died Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Broaddus Hospital at Philippi, following an extended illness.
She was born May 3, 1933, at Moatsville, a daughter of the late Hanson and Malinda (Kennedy) Croston.
On May 8, 1954, she was married to Hartsel Mayle, who preceded her in death May 18, 2003.
Surviving are one daughter, Marie Mayle; two sons, Boyd H. Mayle and wife, Dawn, and Bliss Mayle and wife, Donna; a daughter-in-law, Joy Mayle, all of Moatsville; one brother, Allen Croston of N. Canton, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Eddie Mayle and wife, Cindy, Lacy Freeman and husband, Allen, B.J. Mayle and companion, Kristin, Samantha Streets and husband, Cody, Adam Mayle, Shawn Kelley and Kammi Dalton-Mayle; eight great-grandchildren, Alesa Foster, Taylor J. Mayle, Brodie Mayle, Avah Johnson, Savannah Streets, Zach Freeman, Brandon Freeman and Emilee Freeman; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Murl Cecil Mayle; by two sisters, Ethel Mae Croston and Beulah Mae Adams; and by five brothers, Harvey Croston, Melvin C. Croston Sr., Calvin E. Croston, Samuel Croston and Quentin Croston.
Mrs. Mayle was a homemaker and had briefly served as cook in the Croston School. She was a member of Olive Hill Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, from Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 S. Main St. in Philippi. The Rev. Winfield Mayle will officiate, and interment will follow in Welch Cemetery. Friends may called at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, and may call from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., the funeral hour, Saturday.
