Zola Gray Hilliard, 71, of Crawford, the Rock Cave community, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014, with family by her side.
Zola was born Jan. 21, 1943, in Heaters, Braxton County.
She was preceded in death by her parents Zurh Gilford and Oma Lucinda Nolan; and one daughter, Beverly Ann.
Zola is survived by her two children, Michael L. Hilliard and wife, Michelle, of French Creek and Victoria C. Hilliard of Buckhannon. Also, four grandchildren, Alicia M. Hilliard, Stephanie D. Hilliard, Kayla E. Hilliard and Michael L. Hilliard Jr.; along with five great-grandchildren: Alexis, Dekoda, Kendall and Richard Crowell Jr. and Christine Riffle; two sisters, Bonnie B. Johnson and husband, Zeb, of Hardwood Md., and Louise N. Dowell and husband, James, of Buckhannon; and two brothers, James Nolan and wife, Dolly, of Crawford and Joe Nolan and wife, Florence, of Falling Waters survive.
Zola retired from the food service industry, but her passion was helping others. She enjoyed and spent many years at the Upshur County Senior Center, where she developed the love of art.
The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel in Buckhannon. Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. with the Rev. David Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Flatwoods Cemetery at Flatwoods.
