Dempsey Franklin Lambert Jr., 61, a resident of Wymer, departed this life Monday morning, April 21, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born Friday, Oct. 3, 1952, at Elkins, a son of the late Dempsey Franklin Lambert Sr. and Edith Lambert Ray of Elkins, who survives and her late husband, Virgil.
On Aug. 4, 1976, at Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Nancy M. Fortney, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Angela Thompson and husband, James, of Middle Mountain Road; three grandchildren, Trista, Shane and Drayden Thompson; a close nephew, Lloyd Lee Lambert Jr. and wife, Lisa, and their children, Alyssa, Ashley and Cody; three sisters, Charlotte Lambert, Ester Fortney and Susie Phillips; one brother, James Lambert of Elkins; seven brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Betty Fortney.
He attended the schools of Harman. Dempsey was employed with Mongold Lumber Co. from 1976 until 1989 when he retired. He loved to fish, hunt, camp and spend time with his wife, daughter and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy.
Mr. Lambert's request for cremation was honored.
