The fourth-seed Battlers (21-25) won three of four regular-season meetings against the fifth-seed Senators (17-28), sweeping both games in Philippi and earning a split in Elkins.
Cousins Katelyn and Danielle Norton lead the D&E offense. Katelyn Norton has five homers and 32 RBIs on the season, while Danielle Norton has a team-best .331 batting average.
Seniors Alanna Jones and Amber LaBille anchor the pitching staff.
AB will counter with senior Regan Drake, who is batting .331 on the season with 13 doubles, seven homers and 31 RBIs.
Sophomore Megan LaFon is expected to take the mound for the Battlers. She's started 28 games this season and is 3-0 as a starter against D&E this spring.
Other first-round matchups for Thursday include top-seed Trevecca Nazarene vs. No. 8 Ursuline, No. 2 Kentucky Wesleyan vs. No. 7 Ohio Valley and No. 6 Salem International vs. No. 3 Cedarville.
The double-elimination tournament will conclude with the championship game at noon on Saturday.
