FRANKLIN?- Keaton Funk allowed one run over five innings as Moorefield claimed a 5-1 win over Pendleton County Thursday night in PVC action.
The Yellow Jackets (12-8) struck for three runs in the fourth off Wildcat starter Luke Yokum on an RBI double by Dakota Vetter and run-producing singles from Byron Dolly and Kyle Berg.
Pendleton County answered with an RBI single by Jesse Lambert in the bottom of the frame to cut the lead to 3-1.
Moorefield tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh on Austin Williams' RBI?double, followed by an RBI single from Seth Stickley.
Funk gave up seven hits and fanned two in earning the win.
Yokum took the loss, allowing three runs, one being earned, on three hits and striking out three.
Lambert and Evan Arrington each had two hits for the Wildcats, who dropped to 16-7 and 9-2 in the PVC.
Both teams will host PVC foes at 7 p.m. today, as the Wildcats battle Tygarts Valley and the Yellow Jackets will face county rival East Hardy.
Pendleton County will honor its 2004 Class A state championship team during its game.

BAKER?- Austin Whetzel knock in four runs, including the go-ahead two-run double in the fifth, to lead East Hardy to an 8-7 victory over Broadway, Va., on Thursday night.
The Cougars erupted for six runs in the second inning on the strength of Whetzel's two-run single, a Corey McDonald two-run double and an RBI double by Cole Collier.
After Broadway took a 7-6 advantage, Whetzel gave East Hardy the lead for good with his fifth-inning double.
David Shifflett pitched a complete game to earn the win, allowing seven runs on two hits. Only two runs were earned and he finished with four strikeouts.
Kyle Evick took the loss for Broadway.
The Cougars will visit Moorefield at 7 p.m. today for a PVC contest.

PETERSBURG - Jace Shanholtz fanned nine over 5 2/3 innings to lift Petersburg to a 3-1 win over Southern, Md., Thursday in non-conference play.
The Vikings tallied a single run in the fourth on an RBI single by Ryan Colaw, and tacked on two more in the fifth on a solo homer by Colton Turner and Trevor Harman's RBI single.
Seth Holler had a solo homer in the first for the Rams.
Shanholtz allowed seven hits before giving way to Brandon George, who went 1 1/3 innings, allowing no runs or hits and striking out three to earn the save.
Austin Reckart took the loss in six innings of action, striking out five and not walking a batter.
Petersburg (9-7) will host Frankfort at 7 p.m. today for a PVC contest.

BAKER?- Beth Cook drove in five runs to power Moorefield to an 11-1 win over East Hardy in five innings Thursday in PVC play.
Cook was 3 for 3 and hit a homer for the Yellow Jackets, while Brooklin Gilbert was 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs and Danica Rogers 1 for 2 with a pair of RBIs and a double.
Rogers earned the win, going all five innings and allowing one run and four hits. She struck out five and walked two.
Jodie Funkhouser took the loss, surrendering 11 runs on 12 hits.
Shawna Nesselrodt was 2 for 2 for the Cougars and Autumn Mathias had the lone RBI.
Moorefield (16-6) will visit Petersburg at 7 p.m. today.
