ELKINS - Elkins celebrated Senior Night with an impressive 12-1 win against Big 10 Conference foe Robert C. Byrd Friday night at Elkins Middle School.
The game ended after the top of the fourth inning due to the mercy rule.
Both Tiger seniors played a big part in the win, as Madison Collett was 3 for 3 with two RBIs and a double, while Larel Teter was 2 for 3 with a run scored an RBI.
Amy Fincham, meanwhile, was 3 for 4 with an RBI and a triple, Haley Collett was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBIs and two runs scored, Taylor Pingley 3 for 3 with three runs scored and two RBIs and Hailey Collins 2 for 2 with two RBIs and a double.
Alyssa Harper went the distance to earn the win, allowing six hits and fanning three.
"This was a great team win for our team and seniors against a good Robert C. Byrd team," Elkins coach Ashley Cameron said. "The team was pumped up to get a win against them, and hopefully this will give us some momentum going into sectionals."
The Tigers also earned a 13-4 at Grafton on Thursday night. Jordan Hart went 5 for 5 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored for Elkins, while Haley Collett was 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Pingley 4 for 5 and Collins 3 for 4 with three runs scored.
Harper earned the win a complete-game effort, allowing just five hits and striking out five.
The Tigers finished the regular season 12-9 and will visit Hampshire in the first game of sectional tournament action at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
The teams will then play in Elkins on Wednesday in the best-of-three series.
