Floyd N. Jones, 79, a former resident of Lincoln Avenue, Elkins, and a resident of Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center since October 2013, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2014, in the center.
He was born Feb. 23, 1935, in Randolph County, a son of the late Ralph and Gladys Kerr Jones.
He was married to Bernice Jones, who preceded him in death in 1987.
He is survived by two brothers, William "Bill" Jones and Walter Jones both of Elkins; and four sisters, Lorraine Jones, Lela Coffman and husband, William "Bud" Coffman, all of Elkins, Bertha Poling and husband, Chester, of Philippi and Bea Bennett and husband, Archie, of Weston. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends who were his extended family and a Chihuahua named "Pepe."
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Carrie Jones; and one brother-in-law, Darrell Louden.
Floyd had worked for 18 years at Bolton Motors at Belington as a detailer prior to his retirement.
Friends may call from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, May 8, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rick Price officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Randolph County Cancer Support Group, P.O. Box 2361, Elkins, WV 26241. This nonprofit organization of volunteers helps cancer patients in financial need who are fighting their battle with cancer and donations stay strictly in Randolph County.
