MORGANTOWN - The Petersburg boys and girls captured the Class AA-A, Region II tournament held on Saturday.
The PHS boys tied Lincoln with 17 points in the team standings but won the tiebreaker based on the number of individual champions.
Earning regional titles in singles for the Vikings were No. 2 Ankur Makani, who defeated Robert C. Byrd's Ezra Calef, 8-3, in the championship match; No. 3 Max Roth, who defeated Keyser's Daniel Lewis, 8-4; and No. 4 Brandon Kimble, who defeated Moorefield's Jacob Fisher, 8-4.

In doubles, taking titles the No. 2 team of Roth and Kimble also advanced to the state tournament by placing second.
The PHS girls won the regional title with 18 points, followed by Keyser (15).
No. 1 Kelsie Roby defeated RCB's Allie Yoho, 8-1, in the championship match, while Kelsey Self lost to Bridgeport's Taylor Abraham, 8-0, in the No. 2 singles title match. Self's effort secured her a spot in the state tourney.
Roby and Self teamed up in No. 1 doubles to win the regional championship.
"I was very proud of both how our teams performed," Vikings coach Dave Rogers said. "Our girls lost to Keyser by the slimmest of margins in the PVC tournament and it was great to see them battle back two weeks later and defeat them in regionals.
"Our boys have fought hard all year and I'm so happy for the kids."
The state tournament will begin Thursday in Charleston.
