Franklin Noel Malcolm, 92, of Beechtown Road, French Creek, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, in Holbrook Nursing Home in
He was born Feb. 7, 1922, in Braxton County, a son of the late Alva Warrick and Icy Lenora Heavner Malcomb.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Hazel Burr Malcolm.
He is survived by his second wife, Maxine McClain Malcolm; two sons, John Malcolm and wife, Betty, of French Creek and Joe Malcolm and wife, Debora, also of French Creek; one stepson, David Kinnaird of Columbus, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Phyllis Mullett of Crooksville, Ohio; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Velva Austin of French Creek and Mary Ann and husband, Mitchell Griffin, also of French Creek; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by one son, Richard Malcolm; one brother, Olin Malcomb; one sister, Zola Karickhoff; and one stepson, Brad Fox.
Mr. Malcolm was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He was retired from Ross Laboratory in Columbus, Ohio, and was a custodian at Adrian School for many years. He was a charter member and former chief of Adrian Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Rock Cave Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, at Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel with Pastors David Jessie and Eugene Helmick officiating. Interment will follow in Upshur County Memorial Park.
