TENNERTON - Buckhannon-Upshur senior midfielder Ashley Barlow has been named to the first team of the West Virginia Scholastic Lacrosse Association all-state team.
Other first-team selections include Adrianna Constable and Sofia Sansalone (Fairmont Senior), Sarah Miller (University) and Maggie Helmick (George Washington) at the attack positions.
Joining Barlow as midfielders are Emma Hicks (Morgantown), Maddi Craig (Fairmont Senior) and Sara White and Sarah Wilson (George Washington).
Defenders include Maddie Stavensky (Fairmont Senior), Ricki McCord (University) and Gaby Abad and Kasey Rhoades (George Washington).
University's Morgan Okubo is the first-team goalkeeper.
B-U players on the second team are Samantha Pappas (attack), Anny Hilpert and Mikaela Reger (defense), and Shannon Smith (goalkeeper).
AB men to play at D-II level
PHILIPPI - Alderson Broaddus University director of athletics Dennis Creehan has announced the school's men's volleyball program will begin the transition to NCAA Division II.
"This is an outstanding addition for our student-athletes and our athletic program," Creehan said. "(AB President Richard Creehan) and I are excited for this amazing opportunity to bring in NCAA Division II men's volleyball to Alderson Broaddus.
"It is a great chance to grow both our athletic department and our institution."
A national search has begun for a coach to lead the Battlers to the Division II level.

Vikes win final tune-up
PETERSBURG - Brian George earned the win on the mound and also drove in a pair of runs as Petersburg defeated Hedgesville, 8-5, Friday night in its final tune-up game before the start of Class AA regional play.
The Vikings will host Keyser at 6:30 p.m. Monday in a regional semifinal.
Ryan Colaw was also 3 for 4 for Petersburg with a double, single and triple and two RBIs, while Alex See was 2 for 4 with a pair of singles.
