Lucille Vernie Hogan, 72, of Diamond, Ohio, passed away peacefully into eternal rest Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 4:15 p.m. of natural causes.
She was born Dec. 12, 1939, in Valley Head, the daughter of the late Zedie A. (Hamrick) Simmons.
Lucille married the love of her life, Glen R. Hogan, on April 21, 1957, and they enjoyed 39 years of marriage together until he passed away May 10, 1996.
She has lived in Diamond, Ohio, for the past three years, formerly of Newton Falls for 12 years. Lucille loved to do crafts, sew, baking (especially her fudge), gardening for which she was known for her knowledge of growing African violets in her
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Glen; one son Darrell Hogan; four sisters, Olive Arbogast, Rosie Weese, Sylva Sharp and Jennie Currence; and three brothers, Sherman, Homer and Wilford Simmons.
Memories of Lucille will be carried on by her friends at Willow Glen and Julie Pratt. She will be in our hearts forever.
Calling hours will be at James Funeral Home in Newton Falls, Ohio, Saturday from 4-7 p.m. There also will be calling hours Monday, June 16, from 11 a.m.-noon at Valley Head United Methodist Church in Valley Head, where a funeral service will immediately follow at noon with the Rev. Leon Brown officiating. Lucille will be laid to rest next to her husband, Glen, in Valley Head Cemetery.
