Lois L. Simmons, 83, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014, in Valentine's Personal Care Home in Elkins.
She was born May 18, 1931, at Deer Park, Md., a daughter of the late William McKinley Paugh and Genevieve Nancy Madigan Paugh.
She was twice married. She was formerly married to John Wayne Steyer, and on Jan. 22, 1972, in Elkins, she was married to Elden E. Simmons, who preceded her in death Sept. 25, 2009.
Surviving are one son, Donald Steyer of Oakland, Md.; a stepson, Gary L. Simmons and wife, Bonnie, of Beverly; two stepdaughters, Diana Brown and husband, Scott and Darlene Shaulis and husband, Randy, all of Phoenix, Ariz. Three sisters, Rosealice Paugh Shaffer, Bonnie Fitzwater and Peggy Lou Harvey; six stepgrandchildren, Marc of Clarksburg, Derek, Jason, Christi, Cierra and Kelsey of Phoenix, Ariz.; and nephews, Gary Fitzwater, Barry Shaffer and Franklin Harvey also survive.
Also preceding her in death was one sister, Dolly Paugh.
Lois graduated from Oakland High School in Oakland, Md., and worked in the healthcare field throughout her life. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Elkins.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until noon Monday, June 16, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at noon Monday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dallas Forren officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
