ElKINS - A preliminary hearing in a felony burglary case was continued Tuesday in Randolph County Magistrate Court.
Paul David Owens, 48, of Cravensdale, was arrested on May 11 after allegedly getting into an altercation involving a firearm at a neighbor's residence. Owens is free on a $35,000 cash or surety bond.
According to the criminal complaint, Corporal A.G. Vanscoy of the Randolph County Sheriff's Department responded to a residence in Cravensdale. Vanscoy observed Deputy R.H. Foster speaking with Owens at his home, across from the first residence.
Witnesses provided written statements that indicated Owens "entered their residence and did push" a female, the complaint states.
The witnesses said they told the defendant to leave the residence and he did. At this point, the witnesses said, Owens began "cussing them from across the roadway and eventually traveled to their property with a firearm," according to the criminal complaint.
The witnesses said Owens began cursing a male witness and then struck him on or about the head and neck area, the complaint states.
