Employees honored for years of service were: 10 years, Associate Professor of Nursing Lora Cruz and Associate Professor of Nursing Denice Reese; 15 years, Systems Administrator Jeff Wenzel; 25 years, Electrician Donald Shifflett; and 30 years, Assistant Professor of Mathematics Shankar Roy. Davis & Elkins College Assistant Professor of Psychology Judith Bertenthal-Smith holds a framed certificate acknowledging her 28 years of service to the College and conferring the title of assistant professor of psychology emerita.
Ann Harris, administrative assistant and certification analyst for the Davis & Elkins College Department of Education, was among employees recognized at the annual All Campus Picnic. Harris will officially retire on June 30.
Dr. Thomas Chadwick, professor of political science at Davis & Elkins College, displays a framed certificate that acknowledges his 25 years of service and confers the title of professor of political science emeritus.
Retirees honored during the ceremony were: Professor of Political Science Dr. Thomas Chadwick, Administrative Assistant and Certification Analyst for the Department of Education Ann Harris, Madden Student Center Manager Brenda Kirkpatrick, Campus Postman John Kirkpatrick, Professor of English and Director of the Writing Center Dr. Peter Okun, Physical Plant Director Ron Selders and Assistant Professor of Psychology Judith Bertenthal-Smith.
Chadwick, Okun and Bertenthal-Smith were granted professor emeritus status. Each retiree was presented with a framed certificate and official Davis & Elkins College chair.
