BUCKHANNON - The new Citizens Bank of West Virginia Home Lending Center opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting in downtown Buckhannon Friday.
Although the bank's branches have offered checking accounts, credit lines and other services, the Buckhannon location is specially geared to help customers with a more specific need - mortgages.
"We are a bank, but we are a special bank," President and Chief Executive Officer Tom Derbyshire said Friday. "We're here to make mortgages."

The office is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The business is located on Main Street in Buckhannon across from The Daily Grind and near the Upshur County Visitor's Center.
"We have thought for a long time that Buckhannon was a very vibrant community with a lot of growth potential," Derbyshire said. "Geographically, it fits well with our current locations. Our mortgage product is extremely good."
Helping celebrate the grand opening Friday were representatives of other local businesses, community members and the Upshur County Chamber of Commerce.
"We're thrilled to have Citizens Bank here," Upshur County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tammy Reger said. "Their office space looks wonderful. C.J. (Ryland) did a great job on it. They are a great addition to Main Street."
C.J. Rylands, owner of CJ Maggies, received a special thanks from Derbyshire for helping with the interior design of the new Buckhannon office. Rylands said he was able to reuse several windows from West Virginia Wesleyan College to make a special ceiling design in one of the interior rooms.
