FAIRMONT - Four area softball players were recently named to the All-Big 10 Conference first team.
Elkins' Jordan Hart and Sydney Leary, Buckhannon-Upshur's Julie Tenney and Philip Barbour's Haelli Killen were honored.
Hart, a third baseman, and Leary, an outfielder, helped lead the Tigers to a sectional title and berth in Class AAA regional semifinals.
Tenney, who was also a first-team Class AAA All-State selection, helped the Bucs reach the regional finals from her first baseman position.
Killen was selected as a utility player and was one of the top pitchers and hitters for the Colts.
The remainder of the first team included Bridgeport's Danielle Dennison and Molly Layne, Liberty's Kaylee Ritter, Presley Lamm and Allyssa Jones, North Marion's Taylor Wells, Lincoln's Megan Earnest, Preston's Tiffany Barnett and Robert C. Byrd's Corin Todd.
North Marion's Chelsi Latocha was the league's Pitcher of the Year, East Fairmont's Victoria Postlewait the Player of the Year and North's Brad Harker the Coach of the Year.
Second-team selections include Lincoln's Hope Bray, Santana Cramer, Makayla McEwayne, Sarah Martin, Emily Knight and Josie Payton, Grafton's Mackenzie Cox, East Fairmont's Hanna Ferrell and Cassidy Toothman, North Marion's Shelby King, Amanda Sigley and Paige Efaw, Lewis County's Tori Riley and RCB's Ashley Bassel.
