ELKINS - Elkins Post 29 had a successful weekend, sweeping Beckley on Saturday and splitting a pair of games against Berkeley County on Sunday.
"We played some good baseball against two very good teams this weekend," Post 29 manager Chris George said. "We had a great rally against Beckley on Saturday and after losing our first game Sunday, showed a lot of resolve in bouncing back with a win against Berkeley County."
Chance Price tossed a three-hitter in Elkins' 2-1 win over Beckley on Saturday. He also helped his cause at the plate with an RBI. Kevin McDermott also drove in a run for Post 29.
Elkins trailed the second game 9-2 before scoring six runs in the sixth and plating two more in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.
McDermott had the tying single, while Price added a walk-off RBI single.
Daniel Crawford was 4 for 5 at the plate for Post 29, while Al Johnson, Colby Gainer, Doug Smith, McDermott and Price each had two hits.
Jared Kerns worked three innings in relief of Isaac?Riggleman to garner the win on the mound.
In Sunday's action, Elkins lost a 6-4 decision to Berkeley County in the lidlifter. George Delinski earned the win, allowing nine hits and four runs in a complete-game effort.
Brandon Hamons took the loss in four innings of work, allowing seven hits, walking three and fanning two.
Crawford was 2 for 4, Johnson 3 for 3, McDermott 2 for 4 with an RBI and Gainer added a two-run double for Elkins.
Tyler Scott's strong effort on the mound in the second game led Post 29 to a 10-0 victory.
Scott went all five innings, allowing five hits, striking out one and walking three.
Price went 4 for 4 with four RBIs to lead the offense. Jacob Marsh was 2 for 3 with a three-run homer and Tyler Shreve tallied an RBI double.
Elkins will be idle today before facing Fairmont at 7 p.m. Tuesday at East Fairmont High School.
