PETERSBURG - Elkins Post 29 swept Potomac Valley Wednesday in American Legion play.
Post 29 took the lidlifter, 13-3, and completed the sweep with a 12-6 victory in the nightcap.
Colby Gainer (3-1) went six innings to earn the win in the opener, allowing one run on one hit and fanning eight.
Al Johnson went 3 for 4 with three RBIs at the plate for Elkins, while Doug Smith was 2 for 4 with an RBI, P.J. Lanham 1 for 4 with two RBIs and Tyler Shreve 2 for 3 with three RBIs.
Ryan Colaw took the loss for Post 64/78.
Isaac Riggleman (3-1) pitched six scoreless innings in the second game, allowing six hits and fanning three to earn the win.
Johnson was 1 for 1 with three RBIs, Daniel Crawford 2 for 3, Gainer 3 for 4 with an RBI, Smith 2 for 4 with an RBI and Shreve 2 for 3. Owen Arbogast also had a two-run double.
Ryan Hedrick was saddled with the loss in 4 2/3 innings of work.
"I was pleased with the way we bounced back after a tough loss at Fairmont (on Tuesday)," Elkins manager Chris George said. "We came out and played a lot better and picked up two road victories."
Post 29 (17-5) will travel to Beckley at noon Saturday.
