Cornell Elizabeth Knotts, 83, of Sugarlands, went to her heavenly home on July 2, 2014.
She was born Dec. 6, 1930, in Thomas, a daughter of the late Fuller and Naomi Elizabeth Griffith Gooding.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Knotts in 2007.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Donald E. Knotts; four brothers, Fuller, Ernest, Harry and Joe Gooding; one sister, Martha Gibson; and three grandsons, Donald E. Knotts Jr., Curtis A. Knotts and John J. Evans.
Survivors include two sons, Robert (Jeannie) Knotts of Staunton, Va., and Timothy Knotts of Sugarlands; two daughters, Elizabeth (Jack) Evans of Knoxville, Tenn., and Geraldine (David) Auvil Knotts of Haywood; and eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Cornell enjoyed all aspects of farm life and gardening. She had won numerous blue ribbons for her baking and canning goods at various county fairs. Her other passions were embroidery and crocheting. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church and was always involved in church activities.
Friends will be received at Hinkle Funeral Home, Davis today from 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 6, at Hinkle Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Mike Lantz and Father Timothy Grassi officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
