ELKINS - Elkins Post 29 took control early in finishing unbeaten in Area 5 play with a 16-6 win over Buckhannon in seven innings Tuesday night at Robin Harvey Memorial Field.
As regular-season champions, Post 29 will host the Area 5 tournament when it begins two weeks from today.
"We accomplished our first mission, which was to win the Area 5 regular-season title," Elkins manager Chris George said. "We really came out in the first inning and hit the ball well. The top of our lineup and veteran players continued to produce for us offensively today."

Post 29's offensive erupted for 10 runs in the first inning, which was highlighted by consecutive RBI?triples from Chance Price, Kevin McDermott and Jake Wyatt.
Price also had a two-run double during the outburst, while Wes Felton and Colby Gainer collected RBI singles and Al Johnson a run-producing double.
That was plenty of runs for Isaac?Riggleman, who worked six innings to improve to 4-1 on the summer. The Davis &?Elkins College signee allowed three runs (only on earned) on six hits, fanning 10 and not walking a batter.
Elkins crossed four more runs across in the third to make it 14-1. Felton had an RBI single in the frame.
A run-producing double by Jacob Marsh and Tyler Shreve's RBI single in the seventh ended the game early due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Lewis County product Isaac Kemper took the loss for Post 7, allowing nine runs on seven hits in 2/3 of an inning. He walked two and struck out one.
Logan Skinner had an RBI double for Buckhannon.
Elkins (21-5) will remain home at 7 p.m. today to battle Morgantown at Elkins High School/Post 29 Field.
