ELKINS - No names were released Wednesday for the individuals involved in two separate shootings in Randolph County Tuesday afternoon.
The first shooting took place in front of the Beverly Elementary School between 4 and 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said.
"The incident began in front of Beverly Elementary School as an argument between a woman and a man," Randolph County Sheriff Mark Brady said Tuesday. "The woman started to drive off in a vehicle and the man shot himself in the head." Brady said the man was "alert and combative" when deputies arrived at the scene.
No new information could be released Wednesday, as the shooting is still being investigated by Cpl. A.G. Vanscoy, Brady said.
The second shooting happened at roughly the same time Tuesday afternoon near Rennix Farms property in Valley Bend, police said.
"(The incident) is still under the preliminary part of the investigation" and no new information could be released, investigating officer Trooper D.J. Trenton of the Elkins detachment of the West Virginia State Police said Wednesday.
Brady said the second shooting sprang from a domestic dispute between a man and his nephew, near the Rennix Farms property.
"The argument resulted in a grandson shooting the nephew," Brady said Tuesday.
Brady said the two men injured in the shootings were both taken to Davis Medical Center Tuesday.
