Alice Lorraine Jones, 77, a resident of Elkins, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, in Davis Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 12, 1937, at Kerens, a daughter of the late Thurman Ralph Jones and the late Gladys Gay Kerr Jones.
She had never married.
Surviving are two brothers, William R. Jones and Walter R. Jones both of Elkins; and three sisters, Bertha Poling and husband, Chester, of Philippi, Bea Bennett and husband, Archie, of Weston and Lela Coffman and husband, Bud, of Elkins. Also surviving are several loving nieces and nephews she helped to raise including Melissa L. Simmons Decker of Pine Grove, Travis W. Jones of Elkins, Shanendoah R. Long Clatterbuck and children, Dakota and Reece, of Elkins.
Also preceding her in death were one brother, Floyd Jones; a sister-in-law, Carrie Knox Jones; and two brothers-in-law, John White and Darrel Loudin.
Miss Jones was a graduate of Elkins High School and was employed by G.C Murphy Co. department store in Elkins as a sales clerk prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Nazarene Church.
Friends may call from 2-3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mark Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
