Jim Kines and Leckta Poling are the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce Members of the Month for July.
Kines is the co-owner and vice president of Kines Motor Co., Inc. in Philippi. Poling is the prosecuting attorney for Barbour County.
Kines was born and raised in Philippi, where he graduated from Philip Barbour High School. His grandfather founded Kines Motors 70 years ago. He joined his father, James, and grandfather, Don, in 1982 when he worked in sales until he became co-owner and vice president. Poling is a native of Weston and graduate of Lewis County High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in child development and family studies, and a Bachelor of Science in psychology at West Virginia University, where she received her Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1999.
Poling was the co-owner of the private law firm Casteel & Poling PLLC, with offices in Kingwood and Philippi, for four years prior to her appointment as prosecuting attorney in 2011. She was elected to her current position in 2012. She has 15 years of legal experience and has practiced law in Barbour County for the past 12 years.
Poling is president and a member of the board of directors of the Regional Community Corrections Programs in Barbour, Taylor and Preston counties, and a member of the board of the Regional Child Advocacy Center for the same region. She is vice president for the Prosecuting Attorney Representatives for the state organization of the West Virginia Association of Counties, and serves on the board at Adaland.
