James H. "Slim Jim" Koon, 63, of Buckhannon, died Sunday, July 20, 2014, at his home while under the care of People's Hospice.
He was born May 21, 1951, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Shirley Koon and Bessie Lowther Koon of Buckhannon.
On April 28, 1972, he married Becky Posey, who survives.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by two daughters, Libby Venditti and husband, Chris, of Fort Mill, S.C., and Crystal Linger and husband, Ed, of Buckhannon; one grandson, Christopher Venditti of Fort Mill; two granddaughters, Harley and Presley Linger, both of Buckhannon; four brothers, Claude Koon and wife, Marsha, Richard Koon and wife, Pam, and Jesse and Jerry Koon, all of Buckhannon; and one sister, Cookie Wilsey and husband, Neal, of White Plains, Md.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit and Ray Koon; and two sisters, Dotty Clingerman and Betty Dulaney.
James was a truck driver for J.F. Allen Company and loved to hunt.
Friends will be received Tuesday, July 22, 2014, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday from the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating. Burial will follow in Buckhannon Memorial Park in Buckhannon.
