James Leslie "Les" Betler, 67, passed away Wednesday, June 25, 2014, in Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton, Va.
He was born Dec. 12, 1946, in Helvetia, the son of the late Henry Otto and Mary Louise Dulaney Betler.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey; brothers, Gene and Howard "Bud" Betler; and sisters, Margaret Louise Betler and Margie Conrad.
He is survived by his first wife, Betty Bunner Carr; son Eric (Cynthia) of Helvetia; daughter, Vickie (Sam) Lampkin of Greensboro, N.C.; his second wife, Monica Rotruck Betler; son, James of Warrenton, Va., daughter, Theresa of Dale City, Va.; brother Effis "Jack" (Joan) of New Bern, N.C.; sisters, Vada (Jim) Smith of Helvetia, Henrietta Sanders of Strasburg, Va., Mary Ann (Steve) Karlen of Charles Town and Dolores (Bob) Williams of Goochland, Va.; brother-in-law, Ralph Conrad of Morgantown; sister-in-law, Eleanor Betler of Helvetia; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, Charline Thompson and family of Warrenton, Va.
Les graduated from Pickens High School in 1964 and was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church in Helvetia.
A brief graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 26, in Pickens Cemetery.
