Tanker Truck Fire

July 23, 2014
Members of the Bartow-Frank-Durbin Fire Department work to battle a blaze that began when a tanker trunk owned by Petroleum Carriers, LLC, carrying 7,500 gallons of diesel fuel overturned and caught fire Tuesday afternoon on the bridge at the intersection of Routes 250/92/28 at Bartow. Reports indicate the driver of the truck was able to escape unharmed. Fire departments along with the state Department of Environmental Protection used booms and baffles to keep diesel fuel that spilled into the Greenbrier River from moving downstream. Fire crews from Lewisburg, Circleville and Valley Head, along with a Hazmat team from Clarksburg, also assisted at the scene. (Photos by Richard M. Walther Jr.)
