ELKINS - Items are already being donated to the Randolph County United Way Kickoff Auction, slated for 9:30 a.m. Aug. 23 at the Randolph County Community Arts Center.

"We hope folks will plan to attend," Randolph County United Way Executive Director JoBeth Agnor said Friday. "The auction features thousands of dollars of donated merchandise, and all funds generated will go to help supporting 27 local partnering agencies."

Agnor said the available items will include West Virginia University gifts, gift baskets, baskets of home-canned goods, gift cards, a sewing machine, pictures, tickets to sports events, an antique treadle-style Singer sewing machine, tools and several hand-made quilts and wall hangings. She said the auction usually generates about $20,000.
