Dorothy Jean Canfield Wilmoth, 85, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Sunday afternoon, Aug. 10, 2014 at the Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center at Elkins. She had been in declining health.
She was born Tuesday, Feb. 26, 1929, at Montrose, a daughter of the late Francis Arthur and Georgia Annalea England Canfield.
On Feb. 22, 1963, at Elkins, she was married to Charles Lee Wilmoth, who survives. They had celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Preceding her in death are one brother, Arthur J. Canfield and one sister, Keith Annalea
Dorothy was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1949 and worked in bookkeeping at the G. C. Murphy Company for over 40 years, from which she retired. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and decorating and was very unique and talented at wrapping Christmas gifts.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 5-8 p.m., Tuesday. Final Rites will be conducted at the funeral home, Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at noon. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley will officiate and interment will follow at the Leading Creek Primitive Baptist Cemetery at Montrose.
