Gerald F. "Jerry" Cochran, 91, of Buckhannon, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born May 31, 1923, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Gay W. and Emma Riggs Cochran. On Oct. 28, 1944, he married Daisy Ruth Foreman who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Jerry Allan Cochran and wife, Rita, and James Gay Cochran all of Buckhannon; one daughter, Carol McPherson, of Buckhannon; four grandsons, David Bucklin and wife, Cathy, of Crossville, Tenn., Kevin Bucklin and wife, Peggy, and Jerry Cochran, Jr., all of Buckhannon, and Darian Cochran and wife, Amy, of Charlottesville, Va.; one granddaughter, Niska Wentz, of Buckhannon; eight great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren and extended family, Sam Chou and family.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother and six sisters. Mr. Cochran was the owner of Cochran Motors and a member of the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. Jerry loved to play golf, checkers, poker, pitch softball and was an avid WVU fan.
Friends will be received Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, from 5-8 p.m. at the Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Donald Nelson and Pastor Bob Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon.
