Mrs. Virginia Catherine "Cathy" Phillips Price Taylor, 75, a resident of Elkins and more recently of Elkins Regional Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center, departed this life at the center Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014. Although she had been in declining health, death was unexpected.
She was born Sept. 28, 1938, at Belington, a daughter of the late Edward Dice and Maggie Geneva Vest Phillips.
She was married to Richard Lee Price, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son, Thomas Lee Price and wife, Tina, of Kansas; and three daughters, Mary Louise Cross and husband, Kevin, of Indiana, Juanita Katherine Johnson and husband, Billy, of Missouri, and Holly Faith Quick and husband, Phillip, of Ohio. Additional survivors include two sisters, Carolyn Sue Bennett of Belington and Betty Lou Phillips of Sago; three brothers, James Lee Phillips of Arkansas, Gerald Ronald Phillips of Belington and Allen Dale Phillips of Belington. She also is survived by seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Dice Edward Phillips, Charles Lee Phillips, Junior Phillips and infant brother John Everett Phillips; and four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Richards, Laura Marie Casto, Margaret Price and infant sister Dorothy Ellen Phillips. Also preceding her in death were two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Cathy attended the schools of Barbour County, was a homemaker and had been employed in restaurants as a waitress most of her working career, retiring from Grandma's Kitchen in Kentucky. She was presently attending the Rivers of Living Water Church in Elkins.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6-9 p.m. today and Saturday, Aug. 16, from 8-11 a.m., the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Dr. Phillip Richards officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity
