Mr. James Russell Fletcher, 89, a resident of Elkins, passed away Thursday afternoon, Aug. 28, 2014, at his home.
He was born April 17, 1925, at Grafton, a son of the late Clarence Russell Fletcher and the late Mary Losh Fletcher.
He was twice married, first to Ruth Elean Larch Fletcher, who preceded him in death. On July 4, 1965, in Elkins, he was married to Eleanor Mae Chenoweth Kisner Fletcher, who preceded him in death Feb. 5, 2012.
Surviving are five sons, James R. Fletcher Jr. and wife, Rebecca, of Elkins, Gerald L. Fletcher and wife, Brettie, of Philippi, Joseph E. Kisner, David L. Kisner and Samuel R. Kisner and wife, Nancy, all of Elkins; and one daughter, Linda Kisner Little of Elkins. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding him in death were daughters-in-law, Charlene Kisner and Donna Kisner; and a grandson, Christopher Kisner.
Mr. Fletcher was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a pipefitter for the Western Maryland Railroad for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Elkins Church of the Nazarene for many years, loved hunting and travelling throughout the United States.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 1, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. On Tuesday, he will be moved to Elkins Church of the Nazarene where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Pastor Terry Burgess will officiate. A committal service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Woodsdale Cemetery near Pruntytown. Presentation of the American flag will be made and interment will follow.
