This show portrays a "bad light" on society...West Virginia is simply a back drop. West Virginia has not cornered the market on stupid shiftless humans who would rather do their own thing and live off the government than do the right thing. These people are unfortunately everywhere.
West Virginia is no different than any other state that has low education standards. I have seen those get food stamps for claiming to not being able to read or write yet are able to take the drivers test, go into a local store buy beer and drive home half lit. Or claim to have diabetes just to receive disability, then work under the table making a couple grand a montb. When its time to see a Dr. They fill up on sweets and fudge their way just to get free things. And we wonder why we are brome in this nation. People are just lazy.
The television stations airing these shows portrays WV exactly as they want America to see us. Several states, including Alabama and Louisiana are just as backward as WV, but we've become the red-headed stepchild of the television industry. Even Abercrombie & Fitch sold tee shirts with the phrase "Everything Is Relative In West Virginia" embossed on them, suggesting everyone in the state married a relative.
Personally, I think it's funny that these bonehead Yankees are doing us a favor by keeping other bonehead Yankees from venturing into our state. I was in business for 35 years in this state and nearly every Yankee I had the displeasure of doing business with were arrogant, snobbish******who though everyone in the state was beneath them. For my taste, I be thrilled to death if all the arrogant Yankees would stay north of the Mason-Dixon line.
ive watched this show and i never once saw them using foodstamps or cashing disability checks. just a bunch of goofy kids doing what goofy kids do, goofing off. if you guys want people to take u seriously stop making yourselves look stupid by staying on subject.
People are going to think what they will. Frankly, my wife and I found West Virginia to be quite to our liking many years ago, so much so that we decided to retire there. We have now built a home in WV, gotten to know the neighbors and people "downtown", and I have yet to come across any displeasing, rude, obnoxious, or just plain nasty people. Quite the opposite. We seem to be liked well enough and have even heard "through the grapevine" that we are. Those who constantly use WV at the butt of their jokes are, in My view, the ones losing out as, like I said, I Love West Virginia, so much I consider it my adopted state. Can't wait to move there! Those people who make fun of, and jokes about, WV are the ones who are losing out on a great thing and a lot of wonderful people!
