CANDIDATE MEET AND GREET OPEN HOUSE: Presented by the Randolph County Dems will be today, beginning at 4 p.m. following the Forest Festival Grand Feature Parade. The event will take place at the Democratic Headquarters located at 106 2nd Street. Candidates attending include Steve Williams, candidate for governor; Glenn Elliott, candidate for US Senate; US House candidate Steve Wendelin; Attorney General candidate Teresa Toriseva; and local candidates Mandy Weirich, WV Senate District 11 candidate; House of Delegates 67 candidate Cody Thompson; and Dama Nestor, candidate for House of Delegates 66. Light refreshments will be served and all.

FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY USED BOOK SALE AND DONATION DROP OFF: Today, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., at the old library, 416 Davis Ave. Donations of books, movies, puzzles, and games in good condition also may be made at this location and time. Money raised goes toward expanding and renovating the building, which was severely damaged by multiple roof leaks in late 2021.

AIRPORT AUTHORITY: The Elkins-Randolph Co. Regional Airport Authority will hold its regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 8  at 5 p.m. at the airport terminal building. 

ALLEGHENY REGIONAL FAMILY HISTORICAL SOCIETY: will hold a regular meeting Tuesday at  7 p.m. in the library of the IOOF Building located along the Beverly Five-lane. PICKIN’ IN THE PARK: The Wednesday Jam Sessions will be held indoors at the Augusta Heritage Center’s Music and Dance Hall located on Davis Avenue. For more information, call 304-642-2369. 

PURPLE MAJESTIES: The Elkins Purple Majesties (Red Hats) will meet on Monday, Oct. 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Just Knot Another Barn.   Directions Route 33 towards Buckhannon to Kingsville Road, turn left  then at first road on right turn right (gravel road) and you will see the Barn. VETERANS DAY DINNER: American Legion Post 29 will host its 105th Veterans Day Dinner Saturday, Nov. 9.  The meal will be free of charge to veterans. Additional tickets for guests may be purchased. Meal includes baked steak, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, salad, dessert and drink. Social Hour at 5:30 p.m. and dinner @ 6:30 p.m.. Guest Speaker is Laura Clark, WV Department of the American Legion Auxiliary President. Limited number of tickets available. Deadline to purchase is Nov. 11. For more information, call 304-636-3930.
