Barbour man sentenced to 10 years

ELKINS — James Marklin Mayle, 67, of Philippi, was sentenced Wednesday to a total of 130 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. 

According to court documents and statements made in court, officers stopped Mayle’s vehicle and found nearly two pounds of methamphetamine.

Mayle, also known as “Mark Mayle,” was transporting methamphetamine from Ohio into Barbour County.

Mayle has a criminal history that includes drug possession, battery, assault, burglary, passing counterfeit money, and domestic violence. 

Mayle will serve three years of supervised release following his prison sentence. 

The case was investigated by the Mountain Region Drug Task Force. The Ohio State Highway Patrol assisted. 

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. 

Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided.
