ALDEN
Brittany Danielle Alden, of Salem, West Virginia, loving wife, mother and daughter, passed away on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, at her home surrounded by family at the age of 41.
She was born May 19, 1983, in Buckhannon, West Virginia, a daughter of Robert Holt and Mary Alice Jones Poling, who survive.
On April 25, 2015, she married Matt Alden, who survives.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by her children, Calvin and Etta Alden, both of Salem; father-in-law, Curt Alden and wife, Jackie, of Marietta, Ohio; mother-in-law, Lynn Alden of Marietta; sisters-in-law, Erika Poling of Morgantown, West Virginia, and Maggie Weckbacher and husband, Ross, of Marietta; brother-in-law, Ben Alden of Marietta; nephews, Liam & Bayler Poling, both of Morgantown; and her beloved dog, Macie.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Cory Seth Poling.
Brittany lettered in basketball and softball at Buckhannon-Upshur High School and graduated with a Master’s degree from Marshall University. She loved cooking, boating and was an avid sports fan. Brittany and Matt enjoyed attending concerts and family vacations at several North Carolina Beaches and the Hocking Hills.
In honoring Brittany’s wishes, her body will be cremated, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the nurses at Highland Cancer Center at UHC Bridgeport for their care and the pharmacy staff at Sam’s Club in Clarksburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Saint Jude’s Hospital in Brittany’s memory.
