Mountain Lions, Bucs and Bulldogs all hit the road

ELKINS — Tucker County, Buckhannon-Upshur and Tygarts Valley all hit the road this evening for Week 5 of the high school football season.

The Mountain Lions (4-0) check in at seventh in this week’s Class A playoff ratings. They are coming off a 50-0 home win over Gilmer County as senior running back Jared Reall rushed for 173 yards and four scores and junior quarterback Samuel Marks threw for three touchdowns.

Garrett Wilfong collected four receptions for 69 yards and a score in the win.

The Highlanders are 3-1 on the season and 16th in the ratings. They are coming off a 26-8 setback to No. 5 Madonna.

Buckhannon-Upshur (0-4) continues its brutual early portion of the schedule with a matchup against Class AAAA, No. 6 Morgantown at Pony Lewis Field.

The Bucs have dropped decisions to Class AAA, top-ranked Bridgeport, Class AAAA, No. 13 University, Class AA, No. 4 Philip Barbour and to Class AAA, No. 9 Elkins last week.

Tygarts Valley seeks its initial win of the year at Clay-Battelle.

The Bulldogs have also faced a stern slate through the first four games of the year, falling to Valley-Wetzel, Tucker County, Webster County and last week to East Hardy — teams all ranked among the top 16 in Class A.

The Cee Bees are 2-2 on the season.
