Tigers, Colts make leap in playoff ratings

Mountain Lions move up one spot to seventh in ‘A’

PARKERSBURG — After posting impressive wins last Friday, Elkins and Philip Barbour moved up in the WVSSAC playoff ratings released on Tuesday.

The Tigers (3-1) leaped three spots to ninth in Class AAA after defeating Buckhannon-Upshur, 35-0.

A 42-6 victory over then No. 12 Liberty pushed the Colts (3-1) from sixth to fourth in the double-A ranks.

The teams will battle Friday night for homecoming at Tiger Stadium.

Tucker County (4-0) is seventh in Class A after a 50-0 home win against Gilmer County.

The Mountain Lions have now won 14 straight regular-season games and will visit No. 16 Webster County on Friday evening.

Spring Mills (4-0), Martinsburg (4-0), Wheeling Park (3-1), Parkersburg South (3-1) and George Washington (4-0) comprise the top five in quad-A.

Bridgeport (4-0) remained atop the Class AAA ratings. Fellow Big 10 Conference member Fairmont Senior (4-0) is second, with Herbert Hoover (3-0) third, Princeton (4-0) fourth and Ripley (4-0) fifth.

Roane County (4-0), Frankfort (3-0), Wayne (3-0), Philip Barbour and Westside (4-0) make up the top five in Class AA.

Tug Valley (3-0) is first in single-A.

River View (3-0) is second, Petersburg (3-1) third, Wahama (4-0) fourth and Madonna (4-0) fifth.

Pendleton County (3-1) is ninth.
