ELKINS — Grafton converted a penalty kick 10 minutes into the first half to claim a 1-0 win over Elkins Tuesday in a steady downpour inside Tiger Stadium.

“This was another game where we were the better team for most of the game, but we continue to struggle at key moments.” Tigers coach Scott Cutright said. ” We have to find ways to be our best the full 80 minutes.

“There are a lot of positive points to work with so we need to clean things up in the last few weeks before the playoffs start.”

Elkins (6-6-1) will remain home at 5:30 p.m. Thursday against East Fairmont.

In Tuesday’s late game, Addy Cogar netted a pair of goals to lead the Lady Tigers to a 3-1 win over Grafton.

Cogar scored her first goal midway through the first half as Elkins carried a 1-0 cushion into the intermission.

The Lady Bearcats drew even in the 20th minute of the second half.

Maddie Belan then gave the Lady Tigers the lead for good inside of 10 minutes left in regulation when she converted a penalty kick.

Just 3 minutes later, Cogar added an insurance goal.

“We struggled a little bit to start the game, but got better as the game progressed,” Cutright said. “We had a few moments where we gave the momentum to Grafton, but the girls showed a lot of grit to find two late goals to give us the win.”

The Lady Tigers (10-2-1) host East Fairmont at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Starting at $3.92/week.
